(Atlanta, GA)  --  Chris Kelly, one-half of the 1990s rap duo Kris Kross, is dead.  Kelly -- who went by the nickname "Mac Daddy" -- was reportedly found "unresponsive" inside his home in Atlanta Wednesday evening and was later pronounced dead.  An Atlanta native, Kelly and Chris Smith were discovered by producerJermaine Dupri at a shopping mall in 1990.

Under Dupri's guidance, the duo known as "Mac Daddy" and "Daddy Mac" released their first album "Totally Krossed Out" in 1992 under Ruffhouse Records.  The album's cover featured the pair's emblematic fashion style of wearing their clothes backwards.  "Totally Krossed Out" spawned several hits for the duo including their eight-week number one smash "Jump" and the follow up "Warm It Up."  The songs helped drive the album to the top of the Billboard 200 chart.

Following the success of "Totally Krossed Out," Kris Kross joined Michael Jackson's Dangerous World Tour.  In 1993, the duo released their second album "Da Bomb."  While the album went on to be certified platinum, it was far less successful than the their first record.  "Da Bomb" also symbolized a dramatic change in the group's style as they ditched their popular backward clothing look for a more hardcore appearance.  Kris Kross' third album, 1996's "Young, Rich & Dangerous," was their least successful, but managed to generate two hit singles -- "Tonite's tha Nite" and "Live and Die for Hip-Hop."

After the lackluster success of their third album "Mac Daddy" and "Daddy Mac" parted ways.  However, the pair recently came together to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Dupri's So So Def Recordings label.  The February concert also included performances by Jagged Edge, Xscape, Bow Wow and Da Brat.
