TAMPA, Fla. (970 WFLA) - Hillsborough Sheriff's Master Sgt. Tracy Wallace thought something was up with one of the inmates in Judge Martha Cook's courtroom Tuesday.
Wallace says the inmate--Robert Bridges--kept staring at her gun belt. And sure enough, when she walked by him in court, he lunged at her, putting his hand on her holster.
Wallace quickly spun around and swept Bridge's hands away from her holster. Other deputies restrained him and removed him from the courtroom.
Oddly, Bridges was shackled and his hands bound with a waist chain. Wallace says she's not sure what was in his mind, but credits her training with avoiding a potentially deadly situation.
